Find Us on Long Island, ME!

Long Island is a small island located in Casco Bay, a 45 minute ferry ride from Portland, Maine. The Casco Bay Lines ferry docks at Mariners Wharf, and the Historical Society museum is located a very short distance away in the Community Center (the large light yellow building with the flags in front of it) at 77 Wharf Street. The ferry schedule to Long Island may be found at the Casco Bay Ferry Lines website.

If you wish to purchase food, the Boathouse Beverage near the Community Center is a small grocery store. The Long Island Bakehouse on Island Avenue sells sandwiches, pizza, homemade baked goods, and ice cream. South Beach is a state owned public beach, and about a 30 minute walk from the wharf. Front Beach is also open to the public; access is via a staircase in front of the former VFW Hall.  A good spot to pick up souvenirs of your trip to the island is the Ivy Hall Gift Shop, found on Fern Avenue, just a few steps from Beach Avenue on the way to South Beach.  It is open daily during the summer from 1:30 – 4:00 pm.
