This program was recorded at the Historical Society Annual meeting in January, 2024. Earle Shettleworth, Jr., the Maine State Historian, uses postcards from his extensive collection to give us a snapshot of Portland at the turn of the 20th century.
August 21, 2024, 7:00 PM: Solving the Puzzle: Long Island’s 1924 Tax Photos
Christian LaMontagne, who created this year’s museum exhibit featuring the 1924 tax photos, shared how he researched not only the photos themselves, but property records, old newspaper articles, and materials in our archives to help us “see” the island as the tax assessor did in 1924.
